TG's indigenous programs have been going strong in all of our centres. It is a fundamental part of our sustainability values. It also contributes to the children's eco and social intelligence. Our Educators are a wonderfully creative lot, and they have found so many way to integrate and blend indigenous wisdom into TG's curriculum and activities.
Food is one such creative outlet. The children are learning about aboriginal dishes and it making their tastebuds delightfully excited. And in true blue TG's style, the children love sharing their gifts, so they want to share one of their favourite aboriginal recipes with everyone here! Try this Chicken Burger with Lemon Myrtle recipe!
Fun Fact: Did you know that the lemon myrtle is a tree native to Australia? You can find them along the coastal, sub-tropical rainforests of Queensland. The next time you are in the area, try to spot a lemon myrtle tree and say hi to it!
Chicken Burgers with Lemon Myrtle Recipe
Ingredients:
Pieces of grilled or barbecued chicken breasts
Whole grain rolls (or bread of your choice)
Salad ingredients (whichever ones you like)
1 tbsp of lemon myrtle seasoning
1 cup of low fat mayonnaise
Method:
Cook the pieces of chicken breast. You can choose whichever cooking method you prefer.
Assemble the burger by adding the chicken pieces and the salad ingredients and bread.
Mix the lemon myrtle seasoning and mayonnaise.
Add a tablespoon of lemon myrtle mayonnaise on the burger.
