Reach for the Skye!

Updated: May 7, 2021

Skye McGeoch is not new to the TG´s Family.

She has been part of the TG's Family for the past 8 years and has been lending a hand with setting up TG´s Child Care Urangan in the past few months. Skye is with the Joeys (0-2 yrs) this year at TG's Child Care - Urangan and ready to get set and go!

Let's Go Exploring

Skye is from Port Macquarie and she was living in Hervey Bay for a couple of months before she travelled around Australia in a caravan.

She is one with a taste for adventure and ready to explore, just like what TG's children do everyday!

Skye loves getting curious about different environments with her husband Tim and her three children Poppi, Molly and Buddy. Her family is her greatest achievement and they are with her whichever corner of Australia she finds herself exploring in!

Being a Child

As a young child, Skye always loved spending the day at the beach with her family, hunting for starfishes, building sandcastles and simply floating carefree in the ocean enjoying the waves carrying her and the warm sun smiling down on her. There is a part of this child that is still very much alive in Skye as an adult, wife, mother and educator now. It is what helps her connect with each child that she welcomes on board.

Skye loves listening to every single one of them, learning about their lifestyles, what makes their eyes shine with excitement, what their interests and preferences are and she loves putting a smile on their faces. When a child makes an achievement no matter how big or small, it really makes Skye's day to see how that child glows with joy and confidence, realising they can do so much more.

Skills under her Belt

Skye studied her Certificate 3 in 2005 and continued on to complete her Diploma in Children's Services. Since then, she has worked in Early Childhood settings in various positions. She has discovered her skills and gifts to be creativity and open-mindedness in thinking outside the box, being well-organised and a team player. Since becoming a part of the TG´s Family in 2012, she has brought her wonderful set of skills to TG's where she continues to grow and glow through the years with the children.

Ingredients for Happiness

When asked about her idea of happiness, Skye immediately said, ¨family, fresh air, freedom, love, sun and laughter¨. And TG's has all of these beautiful elements that make Skype happy.

TG's Family is made up of the children, their families, the educators and in fact, it extends out to the entire community and beyond.

TG's has also become Skye's extended family. The children spend lots of time enjoying the great outdoors in TG's award-winning gardens where they get lots of fresh air, sun and laughter as they explore the nooks and crannies, observe how the vegetable gardens are growing or have an adventure as pirates in the boat in the dry creekbed.

Skye is very much at home and a child again when she is with the children in the playspaces and enjoying the children's gardens, making mud cakes, adopting pet rocks and helping lost worms find their way home.

At TG's, children and educators are treated with love, compassion, kindness and respect and everyone is given the freedom to explore their gifts and grow. Educators focus on each child´s unique interests, background, skills, development levels and experiences and each child is given the freedom to grow their unique gifts.

At TG´s, we advocate for everyone to reach their fullest potential and educators are given the freedom and support to continue developing and growing in their career and leadership roles as Early Childhood educators. TG's has all of Skye's ingredients for happiness.

Fun Fact: If Skye were a superhero, she wants her superpowers to be underwater breathing so she can go exploring with the starfishes and spend all her time in the amazing world of the ocean!

Valuable Lessons

Throughout her career as an educator, Skye has picked up valuable lessons that she continues through to today:

  1. ¨If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.¨ - TG's is a loving, kind, caring and nurturing environment where both children and educators feel safe, loved and supported. TG's is another loving home that everyone wants to keep coming back to every single day.

  2. ¨Make every moment count.¨ - at TG's, every situation is an opportunity to grow and shine. And we love seeing and supporting each other´s growth and how they develop and share their gifts!

  3. ¨Be yourself and be accepting of others.¨ - TG's is based on a culture of caring, kindness and inclusivity. Children are encouraged to be curious and ask questions and build meaningful relationships with each other with care, kindness and respect. TG's offers the same to the educators who are trusted, valued and respected. Here, everyone has a voice and is listened to.

Skye is eager to get started at TG's Urangan to help build and showcase the TG´s Way. It is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a new TG's centre where she can meet new children and their families, and learn about their way of life and culture. We are so proud to have Skye on board at TG´s Urangan. Welcome Skye, we are so proud of you for being a part of the TG´s Family!
