The September newsletter is a lovely reflection of TG’s Way in action, where Love, Trust, Respect, Compassion and Fun shape the relationships and experiences that help children feel safe, valued and confident to explore their world. As the Centre Managers share, the past eight months have been filled with meaningful play, problem-solving, creativity, friendships, independence and discovery, with plenty more to come as the weather warms up.
Child safety starts with relationships
With National Child Protection Week from 5–12 September, the newsletter reinforces TG’s commitment to creating environments where children feel safe, respected, valued and heard.
Hastings Street Educational Leader Mel shares an important reminder that protecting children is part of everyday practice. Educators are supported to understand their child protection and mandatory reporting responsibilities, while always putting the safety, wellbeing and best interests of every child first.
Playing is Learning for Life
There is plenty of evidence of Playing is Learning for Life throughout Hastings Street.
The Joeys have been building balance and movement through climbing, dancing, running and outdoor exploration, while also discovering culture, natural materials, art and imaginative play. The Boaties have transformed their interests into wonderfully elaborate role play, creating salons, kitchens, shops and even some rather expensive five-star dining where things cost “all of your money”! Along the way, they are developing communication, creativity, fine and gross motor skills and problem-solving.
Growing confidence for Big School
For Preschool children preparing for school, the coming months will include a stronger focus on school readiness, including caring for belongings, social and emotional wellbeing, literacy and numeracy.
Children have already been practising name writing and showing growing excitement about upcoming school visits. A new alphabet “news bag” activity will also encourage children to find objects at home beginning with a particular letter and bring them in to share, connecting learning at TG’s with family life at home.
There’s much more inside the September Hastings Street newsletter, including important dates, the Positive Parenting Program, the new spring menu and family information for 2027 re-enrolments.
Enjoy the September newsletter and another season of Playing is Learning for Life at TG’s Child Care Hastings Street.
